First Week of June

After some time away from the trail due to Lyme Disease from a tick bite and a family weekend away, I have been out on the trail a few times this week. One day I did have my camera.  I found a few things to take pictures of.  I was heading over to the cross bridge to see if the Heron and other large birds were out, but kept getting side tracked. I went to a nearby retention pond where I had startled the Heron a few weeks ago. I went to this spot to see if he was off the wetlands, but there were other hikers out on this trail that day. I spent some time trying to get pictures of a few cardinals who seem to be very difficult to catch in one place for very long. They are one of my favorite birds.  When I did make my way over to the cross bridge, there was a professional photographer there with her yappy dog and no chance of getting a close look at the Great Blue Heron.  Having my dog with me, the little one would not stop making all kinds of noise, so after a few pictures, I decided to head back home.

On Thursday of this week I was out again.  Of course I did not have my camera for this quick walk and ran into a deer and we were about 12 feet apart.  As I crossed the cross bridge, I came to an opening and he was literally standing right there.  We stared at each other for a bit and then he walked off.  I also had a few cardinals flying over head. There was also a small water snake near the culvert on the eastern side of the wetlands.
